Lola The Cat

Remember those golden days when people would go out and spend 17.99 at Warehouse music on the latest overproduced Jennifer Lopez album and go out and see her latest cheesy romantic comedy that same weekend? Do you remember when you couldn't turn on your television set without hearing about the latest "it guy" she was marrying or hearing people go on and on about what big of an ass she had? Luckily for us those days are long gone. However, it's unfortunate that Jennifer Lopez did not seem to get the memo.

With both her singing and acting career on life support, Jennifer is trying to put herself back on the music scene after a string on failed blockbuster attempts. Her new music video for a song titled "Fresh Out The Oven" premiered this week. The song will be featured on her upcoming album titled Love? (yes, the question mark is apart of the title).

During the promotion of this album Jennifer will be using an alter ego named Lola. Wow, that just reminded me, remember her J-Lo alter ego? How fucking annoying was that? Like Beyonce did with Sasha Fierce (whoissashafierce.com), Jennifer launched her current project on the website whoislola.com. Sony pictures is using a similar promotional strategy with Angelina Jolie's latest film Salt being launched on the website whoissalt.com. Check out the trailer on the website. What's up with the latest obsession with Russia? Gaga's video, Rihanna's song, Jolie's movie...

The name Lola is an interesting choice considering it's taken from the title of the Virgin Mary. However, most people seem to drawing comparisons to a different Madonna, the pop star, who is known to call her daughter Lola as a nickname. Another form of the name Lola is Lolita which I've been exploring in Lolita's Candy and Lolita's Candy Continued. In an interesting twist, Madonna chose to dress her 12 year old daughter up in her sexually suggestive "Like a Virgin" outfit for her current "Celebration" music video.
Pop culture's deflowering of "the virgin" icon relates to Jennifer Lopez's current music video as she, under the name Lola, presents herself as a boy toy.

First of all, for the people who will take this video at face value and just see it as a cheap and random video with no meaning do keep in mind that this video was directed by Jonas Akerlund who's videos are always symbolic. He is not going around directing videos of Nelly with strippers pussy popping in the club. He's the man responible for the infamous "Smack My Bitch Up" video, Pink's symbolic "Sober", and many of Madonna's videos including the one I just tallked about with her daughter. He was also responsible for Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" video.

As the video starts we see repetitive images of Jennifer on the left and then on the right. This image editing is featured in many music videos by Beyonce and Rihanna. Lenon Honor discussed this in his analysis on Rihanna's "Umbrella". It is meant to represent duality.
I forgot to mentioned that a rapped named Pitbull is featured on the song. As you see the women around him look hypnotized and drained of energy; not very sexy at all.
This outfit features a lion (Cat/sun God) and was also worn by Lady Gaga in her "Paparazzi" video.

Here we see Jennifer in her leopard print Louboutin shoes. Why is she in a messy bed? Ask yourself what is this suppose to represent.
There is rarely a shot of her full face in this video and there are several shots of her image darkened like the image above to represent a loss of identity.
Here we Jennifer pulling off her clothes in the messy bed. Are you getting it yet? It's all about sex. She's a sex kitten.
Here's Jennifer in yet another cat inspired outfit. Her eyes are blackened similar to Rihanna and Beyonce in their mind control videos and images.
as if you needed more evidence here's Jennifer crawling like a cat towards the orgy going on on the bed.

Check out the video for yourself and see if you can spot anything else.

  2. Thanks for the picture. Also she's pointing her finger like it's a gun and her new song is about pulling a trigger. There's been a lot of that lately with the new Beyonce video with Lady gaga and Madonna's recent song with Lil Wayne called "Revolver". It's a theme I'm keeping my eye on.
