Regeneration

Sorry for the lack of entries, I've been busy. I recently saw Christina Aguilera's Back to Basics DVD. I'm not going to do a full write up, I'll just be making a few observations. The photo you see above is of the actual DVD disc. On the disc there is an 8 Pointed Star. Here is a little info on the 8 pointed star's Occult origins.

"The 8-Pointed Star or Octagram corresoponds to the Wheel of the Year and the 8 Sabbats of Wiccan and Pagan traditions. It is representative of the cycle of time and the power of regeneration and return. 8 is also the number of harvest, allowing you to reap the seeds you have sown in the past and gain from your projects and learning."

That's very interesting considering her album is titled Back to Basics.

The 8 Pointed Star is also featured prominently in the film Eyes Wide Shut which I recently did a blog on.

There are a lot of little things I could go into with this show but I would like to post the performance and lyrics to "Welcome to the Circus".

I will be returning to the "ritual" soon and getting deeper into the symbolism involved with it. An interesting fact is that Jamie King was the visual director for the VMA ritual performance. He's been directing Madonna's tours since 2001 and directed both Britney and Christina's tours that feature the Circus theme. The pictures of Madonna above are from Madonna's tour The Girlie Show. Both Britney and Christina's tours borrow key elements from that show and I believe that is for a reason, but like I said, more on that later.
